Webinar Recap: Markets, Options Trading Strategies, Patterns and Risk Management
This week’s options trading webinar was a fun one, as we took a deep dive into the markets and options trading strategies you can use to find trades right now. I repeatedly said the market is in a choppy, sideways formation; hopefully, it will be resolved to the upside at some point. We also chatted about Fed Funds Futures, patterns, risk management, and volatility, which is still rather low.
I presented some of my best options trading strategies that you can use right now – the market is giving us so much opportunity to get in on great trades (even if it seems boring!). One strategy I covered is mean reversion, a trading style that takes advantage of prices that have strayed too far away from the mean or moving average. Often these are good trades, but they are only short-lived. We also reviewed some risk management techniques.
Finally, I covered my top chart picks (Eli Lilly, among others) and a few new trade ideas that we are using over at the Explosive Options service, including Google and FedEx.
The Fed and the Economic Forecast
The Fed meeting next week will tell us much of what we need to know going forward. It’s going to be important to watch the language they use in their statement and revisions they make to the economic forecasts. Given the strong jobs report and mixed economic data, the Fed may give us an idea of when to expect rate hikes. Regardless, the market is sanguine and has not shown much fear or panic. The bond market continues to do the Fed’s work.
There is a put underneath the market, and I outlined a big trade done we did in April that supports the market at 2100. That level is likely to be defended over the year.
