Options Trading Webinar: How to Manage Your Trading Fears During the Spooky Month of October
October is a notorious month for traders and investors, as this is when big market crashes tend to occur. The Great Depression began on October 24, 1929. Black Monday began in Hong Kong and quickly spread west on October 19, 1987. Widespread malfeasance in the financial sector brought global markets to its knees on October 11, 2007.
As a result of our past experiences, fear ramps up as soon as the calendar turns over to October – whether or not there’s anything to fear. That’s why right now is a great time to discuss strategies on how to manage your trading fear so you can continue to find trade opportunities and bank winners. But let’s be honest – price action is king, and even with a bearish bent, we cannot be blind to the action. Since last Friday, that action has been decisively bullish. So, we may have to change accordingly.
This Week’s Market Action
Stocks cooled off a bit following the bounce that began on Friday and carried over to Monday. We are 100 handles up from the lows we saw after the jobs report was issued, and though that’s a big move in only a few days, market conditions remain in bearish territory.
Volatility and option premium have both collapsed, yet sentiment indicators are not looking super bearish. In fact, October has enjoyed one of its best starts! And we are still carefully picking winners; our eyes are set on Herbalife right now.
