Options Trading Webinar: LEAP Strategies for 2016

During this options trading webinar, we covered the herky jerky motion of the markets. A lack of liquidity and rampant selling that seems to have no end continues to plague investors and traders. We hit low levels on Thursday, February 11, that were last reached on January 20 (1812 on the SPX 500). In January, the low was followed by a sharp bounce up. Where it goes is a great question (and it may be down).
Next we turned to LEAP strategies. I outlined how to use diagonal calendars to set up high probability bets for long call and put strategies. Using LEAP strategies can be an interesting way to play a highly volatile market. Some names are due for a nice bounce while others could be taken down a notch. LEAPS are a terrific stock substitute.
This Week’s Market Action
Volatility continued to rule the roost this week, especially ahead of Fed Chair Yellen’s appearance before Congress. Economic data is weak, and institutional support has dried up.
