Webinar Recap: Market Analysis and Options Trading Tips From Steve Burns
Our special guest on this week’s webinar was Steve Burns, a stock market investor, active trader, author of seven books, and one of the top Amazon.com reviewers for books about trading. Steve is a great guy who really knows his stuff, so our wide-ranging discussion turned into a really solid, education-focused webinar with a special emphasis on top trading tips.
Steve and I talked at length about specific technical techniques (say that three times fast!) to help you gain an edge. One of Steve’s favorite strategies involves buying at near “break points” on the RSI or the 30 level. Steve mentioned several of the names that he has been trading successfully using this technique – so you’ll have to listen in to learn more.
Market Action
Before I introduced Steve, I quickly reviewed the action this week – and man, what a week’s it been! After the market took a pounding on Monday, it was a relief to see better turnover and breadth on Tuesday. Lots of earnings came out again this week with mixed results, and of course we had a Fed meeting taking place (no changes to Fed policy yet).
With so much choppy action, it’s no surprise that there is a lot of fear in the markets. The VIX has moved back down toward the 13% range again, puts/calls continue seem to be heading down, and sentiment continues to reflect worry (the CNN Fear/Greed index is at 21, aka, extreme fear).
